Root Canal Treatment

The chemomechanical preparation of the root canal which we do routinely can have added benefit by additional sterilization of the root canal with lasers. The endodontic irrigants used for cleaning of the root canals are effective only upto 100 um inside the dentinal tubules, while laser has been proved to be effective upto more than 1100 um thus rendering more dentinal tubules free of bacteria !!
Not only cronic cases, but the routine endodontic cases can be subjected for laser assisted root canal sterilization. Chronic or resistant cases and teeth with mild to moderate periapical lesions also can be effictively treated by this techinique. In such cases, surgical intervention can be avoided.
Crown Lengthening
​
Many a times we come across cases where the clinical crown height of the abutment tooth is less. A gingivectomy is performed conventionally using a scalpel or blade to increase the crown height. The main drawback of this procedure is that we can not control the bleeding at that site and therefore the patient is scheduled for the next appointment for crown preparation. But with lasers, crown lengthening can be performed bloodlessly and also the crown preparation can be performed in the same appointment. Also anaesthesia can be avoided because laser treatment is painless.
Surgical

Any small surgical procedures like gingivectomy, soft tissue excision, ulcer treatment can be efficiently treated with lasers painlessly and bloodlessly. Patients with pulp polyp, gingival growth on cavities can be treated with lasers without pain and bleeding. As the treatment is bloodless, restorations can be done immediately.
Many a times we have to perform few soft tissue procedures which have a great effect on prognosis of the treatment such as frenectomy in case of diastema, tongue tie gingival growth due to ill- fitting dentures. It is possible to perform these procedures very easily without any complications. Laser can be used to treat submucous fibrosis.
